Take Your Medicine

Lately it seems there's been a bit of controversy over these "town hall" meetings for health care reform. A lot of complaining about "astroturfing" vs. grassroots groups, shouting matches, and un-Americanism. My message to the Democrats:

Take your medicine.

What were the Democrats doing when Code Pink and MoveOn.org planted protesters at the Republican National Convention? Was it un-American when John McCain was shouted down several times during his nomination acceptance speech? Is Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink, and MoveOn.org an example of "astroturf" because they are/were funded and propped up by billionaire celebrities and entities like George Soros and General Electric?

Five years ago I attended a "town hall" meeting in Omaha when Bush was doing his "Social Security Reform" tour. Outside the Qwest Center, there were several so-called "grassroots" groups shouting and protesting everything from the war on terror (funny how we never hear that term anymore) to social security reform. While the President was speaking, an instructor from Creighton attempted to shout down the President. The language he used was so vulgar I will not print it here. The audience started shouting "USA, USA, USA" to drown him out. The President did something that I'd never seen ANYONE do on TV or otherwise. He told everyone to stop and he simply said, "This is what makes America great. We can have a difference of opinion and voice our complaints to our leaders. This is what we are fighting for."

Maybe Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should learn something from George W. Bush for a change.

I concur completely. Now the roles have reversed yet the Dems can't handle debating the issues and when confronted, well it must be the evil plan of the "right-wing-conspiracy"
