The Best Moore
So I'm finally getting around to posting about my class reunion. It was awesome and I'm so glad I went. I wound up staying with a couple that we used to go to church with down there in Edmond.
The first night we had a get-together at the Skky Bar down in Bricktown. It kind of cracks me up a little after having experienced the entertainment districts in Kansas City, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Boston over the last 10 years, and then seeing the four block area that is Bricktown, but it's cleaner, newer, and nicely maintained. The city really did do a good job of upgrading the area.
Anyway, met up with a few friends of mine and we hung out for a while. A few surprises here and there. One of the girls lost 90 pounds and turned into an ultra-hottie, which was cool, and one of the guys turned halfway into a girl, so I guess that's good for him? Lots of people were to be seen there and it was a great way to start off the weekend.
Saturday we had a picnic at Earlywine Park, which was just down the street from my old house I grew up in. I arrived there to find that nobody from the reunion committee or the director firm they'd hired had shown up. Several more people trickled in to find that we had no pavilion or anything reserved and it looked like it was about to rain like crazy. A birthday party finally cleared out of the larger pavilion and we jumped on it like, five minutes before it started a torrential downpour.
That evening we went to our reception dinner and had our class picture taken again, although instead of 550 people, it was more like 100 or so in the picture. Most of us were out-of-towners and a couple of people had come from as far away as New York and Oregon. It's pretty cool to see how people are turning out. I have friends that are engineers, doctors, war heroes, and most important, parents. I think we are indeed the Best of the Best Moore, and the best is yet to come.
